YOUth Alive! 2019

SAMH Promotes Youth Mental Health and Resilience at YOUth Alive! 2019

After a successful launch last year by President Halimah Yacob, the Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH) held its second edition of YOUth Alive! from 3pm to 7pm on Saturday, 21 September 2019 at Festive Arts Theatre @Our Tampines Hub.
The theme for YOUth Alive! 2019, “Inspiring Hopes, Realising Dreams”, sought to raise awareness on youth mental health and resilience, and to encourage youths who struggled with mental health issues to seek timely help.

Over 200 people attended the event, which was graced by Guest-of-Honour, Mr Edward Chia, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Timbre Group and a strong advocate and supporter of initiatives that engage and nurture youths to fulfil their dreams and potential.

Youths, including youths from SAMH YouthReach and SAMH Creative SAY!, put up song, music and dance performances, showcasing their many different talents. The event also featured prolific youth personalities, Gary Lau, Chia Xun An and Paralympian Yap Qian Yin, who inspired with their sharing of their personal experiences in using passionate pursuits to overcome adversities in life.

Dr Francis Yeoh, President of SAMH, said, “As a leading community mental health agency in Singapore, we are delighted to be organising YOUth Alive! this year. We hope for YOUth Alive! to serve as a platform where youths feel empowered to make a difference in the world, regardless of their backgrounds”.
