Volunteer Management Executive/ Manager

At Singapore Association for Mental Health, SAMH, we improve the lives of persons with mental health issues through rehabilitation and reintegration. Our beneficiaries include youths, students and adults. We are here at every step of their recovery journey, while also providing emotional and practical support to their families and caregivers.


We are looking for a passionate volunteer manager to lead on the creation, development and delivery of SAMH’s Volunteer programme. You will help foster a positive experience for the volunteers and provide the link between the organisation and volunteers.

This position will report to the Corporate Services Director.

Core Duties:

  • Develop a budget and assess available resources for the volunteer program activities
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to recruit volunteers with the right skills at the right time to match the interest of the organization
  • Train staff to work effectively with volunteers on each program and raise staff awareness on the role and function of volunteers, in alignment with the goal and objectives of the organisation
  • Monitor and evaluate volunteer programmes to meet both organizational and volunteers’ needs.
  • Research and compile a volunteer handbook, documenting volunteering policies and procedures
  • Co-ordinate and maintain an up-to-date database and use this information to monitor and evaluate activities
  • Evaluate volunteer performance with inputs from Programme Heads
  • Develop and organise formal or informal recognition, reward programmes, and appreciation events for volunteers
  • Plan for volunteer retention and replacement
  • Work alongside with fundraising staff to organize profile raising events to attract new volunteers and raise funds


  • Tertiary qualifications is preferred
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years managerial or related work experience, preferably in a non-profit, charitable organisation, or events.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to operate volunteer management system and manage social media platforms is a plus
  • Positive vibes with strong interpersonal skills
  • Empathetic and can interact with a diverse type of people
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal
  • Strong analytical, leadership and planning skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and time management
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team and also take initiatives when the need arises
