SAMH manages the Activity Hub, where psychosocial rehabilitative programmes are conducted to assist residents in their recovery from mental illness and to reintegrating them into the community. Activity Hub’s services include occupational therapy, social work, psychological services and vocational placements.
Purpose
Residents from our centre may not be able to find jobs despite having the right knowledge and skills, and that is where the Vocational Placement Officer comes to place. You will source for employers and advocate them about mental illness to reduce stigmas and encourage them in employment. Residents have many different sets of skills and talents. Therefore, it is important that you match their competency to the job scope needed. Our residents may not adjust to the job well. Hence, it is important that you follow up with them occasionally and ensure that they are well-taken care and adjusting well. Orientations such as travelling to work locations and training must be for residents to perform at their best level. You will conduct programs to engage them despite finishing their work duties and gaining feedback from employers to improve approaches and training.
