Social Work Associate at SAMH Oasis Day Centre

Oasis Day Centre (ODC) is a psychiatric rehabilitation programme for people in recovery of mental illness or dual diagnosis (i.e., mild developmental disorders and mental illness). The main objective is to optimise clients’ level of function in the community, so as to cultivate independence, enhance interpersonal skills, and improve job readiness.

Purpose:

As a Social Work Associate/Assistant, you are required to provide emotional and practical support to clients and their caregivers in order to help clients achieving their goals and improve their lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Intake and discharge processes of clients
  • Support Social Worker and Case Worker in clients’ progress and intervention plans
  • Provide family support and intervention to facilitate clients’ attainment of goals
  • Attend to disputes between clients and emergency situations
  • Support groupwork, psychoeducation workshops and other therapeutic sessions
  • Liaise and coordinate with trainers, volunteers or interns for programmes and activities
  • Assist Social Worker and Case Worker in social reports, incident reports, case recordings, and letters to agencies and caregivers.
  • Assist in the planning and administrative duties, including drafting proposal and statistical submission.
  • Ensure proper upkeeping of clients’ records and database.
  • Compile and report statistics to various stakeholders
  • Co-plan and review programmes and activities for the month
  • Collaborate with and support other SAMH programmes when required
  • Conduct new hire orientation and attend to visitors to SAMH programmes
  • Any other duties as assigned by SAMH

 

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or Sociology.
  • Passion in working with adults in recovery of mental health issues and their family members
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and able to work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Have good verbal and written communication
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and other internet applications such as Zoom and social media.
  • Applicants who have prior work experience in the Social Services sector and Mental Health field will have an added advantage
