Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and committed Music Therapist who brings both clinical expertise and project coordination skills to support the development and delivery of music therapy services within SAMH Creative Services. This role goes beyond direct therapy work, integrating leadership in project execution, cross-multidisciplinary collaboration, and creative innovation. The Music Therapist will play a key role in equipping colleagues and volunteers to advocate for the role of music therapy, while promoting inclusive, sustainable, and impactful practices across the organisation.

Job Description & Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Direct Service Delivery

  • Conduct comprehensive centre intakes to identify therapeutic needs, goals, and appropriate intervention strategies
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that incorporate client strengths, preferences, and cultural considerations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure holistic care planning approaches
  • Plan and facilitate individual and group music therapy sessions using evidence-based methods including.
  • Adapt interventions to meet the diverse needs of clients across age, ability, cultural background, and presenting concerns
  • Implement cross-disciplinary and multidisciplinary therapeutic approaches in collaboration with art and dance/movement therapists

Project Leadership

  • Lead and coordinate creative initiatives and pilot projects from conception to completion
  • Manage project scoping, grant application, timeline development, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication
  • Oversee budget management and resource planning for assigned projects
  • Conduct project evaluation and impact assessment activities

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Collaborate with art therapists, dance/movement therapists, and other creative arts practitioners to design integrated programmes
  • Coordinate and deliver in-centre creative services and external community outreach initiatives including mass public talks and workshops·      Facilitate cross-disciplinary team meetings and planning sessions
  • Develop protocols for seamless integration of multiple therapeutic modalities

Data Management& Quality Improvement

  • Develop and implement systems for data collection, impact reporting, and feedback mechanisms
  • Create evaluation frameworks to support continuous service improvement
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on project outcomes and organizational impact
  • Support evidence-based decision making through data analysis and presentationService Development & Advocacy
  • Contribute to outreach efforts to raise awareness of music therapy through external engagements and sustained partnerships.
  • Assist in developing creative approaches that complement other psychosocial interventions.·  Facilitate educational workshops and educational for team members and volunteers

Professional Ethics

  • Ensure compliance with professional ethical standards and organizational policies
    Maintain high standards of clinical documentation, progress tracking, and outcome measurement
  • Participate in monthly clinical supervision and professional development activities where exchanging of knowledge within the team is required.
  • Contribute to research initiatives, case studies, and evidence-based practice development
  • Ensure administrative procedures are followed, including accurate record-keeping, billing, statistics reporting, and scheduling.· Uphold standards of cleanliness and tidiness in therapy and creative spaces.

    ·· Participate in meetings, including minute-taking where required.

Others

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director in response to service needs.
  • Contribute to organisational research and evaluation initiatives where applicable.

Educational/professional qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Music Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Certification or registration with a recognized Music Therapy board or association (e.g., RMT, MT-BC, HCPC).
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating music therapy in mental health, trauma-informed, or community-based settings.
  • Strong musical proficiency (e.g., guitar, piano, voice, percussion) and creative adaptability.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, track progress, and communicate across teams.
  • Knowledge of participatory, culturally responsive, and inclusive practice models.

Special knowledge, skills, language, etc.

  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Microsoft Suite
  • Able to converse in dialects and mandarin is preferred.
  • Corporate workshop/training and public speaking experience
  • Experience facilitating large group workshops and presentations
  • Experience leading or contributing to community-based mental health projects and programmes.
  • Confidence in capacity-building, coaching, or peer learning roles.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation frameworks or community impact reporting.
  • Multidisciplinary team collaboration experience

Relevant work experience & no. Of years

Minimum 2 years of experience in social service sectors

Desired personal traits

  • Good interpersonal, administration, facilitation,and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with a flexible, solutions-oriented mindset
