Caregiver Support


The Family Link Programme (FLP) is a nine-session workshop for caregivers of persons with any one of the following three mental illnesses: depression, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. The aim is to educate and support family members in caring for their loved ones with illness.

  8. Dealing with stigma and discrimination
  9. Moving forward

Programme Schedule

The FLP is conducted four times a year. For each run, the nine topics are covered over a period of three months.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be caring for a family member with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and/or depression
  • Able to attend all nine sessions and complete the entire course

The Caregivers Support Group (CSG) is open to family members and friends of persons with a mental health condition to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to care for their loved ones.

The group provides an avenue for caregivers to get together to share experiences as well as to give and receive support for one another.

Who can join?

You are welcome to join the CSG if you have family member, or, friend being diagnosed with a mental health condition such as schizophrenia, depression or bipolar disorder, and you would like to learn how you can better support him/her.

CSG is specially catered for caregivers. If your loved one whom has a mental health condition is interested in joining a support group, we welcome him/her to consider joining one of our Peer Support Groups.

How is the CSG run?

It is an open group conducted mainly in English; with translation to Mandarin by staff or other CSG members on need basis. Members meet on the last Friday of each month from 7.15pm to 9.15pm.

Sessions consist of regularly sharing sessions among caregivers and occasionally, talks on topics relating to mental illness, mental health issues and other relevant topics addressing various concerns of caregivers.

Who conducts the CSG sessions?

The CSG sessions are jointly facilitated by a case worker with caregivers who are members of CSG. Occasionally guest speakers such as psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers or other mental health professionals will be invited to present talks.

Are there any requirements of CSG members?

As the CSG is a support group for caregivers going through the challenging task of caring for loved one with a mental health condition, we strive to make the support group a safe and therapeutic environment for caregivers to be able to relate their experiences. Therefore all members are expected to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Are there any fees involved?

You only need to pay a one-time registration fee of $10 to join the group.
